Image tools that respect your privacy by design

Photoclay is a free collection of image tools — compress, resize, crop, convert, upscale, remove backgrounds, blur faces, and more — that do all of their work inside your web browser. Your photos are never uploaded, because there is no server to upload them to.

Why we built it

Most online image editors copy your file to a remote server, process it there, and send the result back. That is slow on poor connections, it caps what you can do with large files, and it means private photos — IDs, receipts, family pictures, unreleased designs — end up on a computer you do not control.

Modern browsers are powerful enough to do this work locally. Photoclay was built to prove it: the same everyday tools, with none of the uploading.

How it works

When you open a tool, your browser downloads the code it needs — nothing more. From then on, every step runs on your device:

  • Resizing, cropping, rotating, and watermarking use the Canvas API.
  • Compression and format conversion use open-source codecs compiled to WebAssembly.
  • Background removal, face detection, and upscaling run machine-learning models on your own hardware.
  • Heavy work runs in background threads (Web Workers), so the page stays responsive.

What we will never do

  • Upload, store, or view your images.
  • Ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • Add a watermark to your results or hide tools behind a paywall.
  • Sell data about you.

Works offline

After a tool has loaded once, it is cached on your device. You can disconnect from the internet and keep using it — a simple way to check for yourself that nothing is being sent anywhere.

Built on open source

Photoclay stands on the work of many open-source projects, including image codecs compiled to WebAssembly, TensorFlow.js, ONNX Runtime Web, and the models that power background removal, face detection, and super-resolution. Each is used under its own license.
